Great article! But I’m surprised by the meek response (read no response at all) to this one.

Indeed, every such act, whether it be the Mumbai terror attacks or the Gujarat case, should be dealt efficiently if we really want our country to maintain its presence globally.

No sane person can and should forget the Gujarat program. But to compare the Gujarat communal riots in which the then state government played a dirty role, cannot be compared with Mumbai 26/11 which remained essentially a terrorist activity. By comparing both, the message goes that Mumbai 26/11 events are justified in the wake of Gujarat holocaust. Such thinking smells the perverted mindset and psyche which was reflected in the unwarranted statemnt of A.R. Antuley who have also hurt the feelings of Muslims, who are Indian citizens.

Perhaps you missed the para added towards the end of the article. It reads :

”This article in no way intends to reduce the importance of the dastardly attack on Mumbai. Or is it an attempt to equate the two events. Both were seriously traumatic. But they were different. We need to be serious about both.”

I hope this clarifies the point you are trying to make.

Seeking justice against dastardly crimes like rape and burning women alive is not being perverted. Every normal person should support this.

Punishing such crimes appropriately is the first step to prevent its recurrence. Every sane person should demand this if wish to have a egalitarian society.

On the contrary, any person who find alibis or provides apologies and reasons for such crimes and seeks prevent the crimes being punished is the pervert.
